Background & training

From the entertainment industry to the therapy room

After working in the entertainment industry for a number of years, I returned to school and received my Master's Degree in Marriage & Family Counseling from California State University, Northridge.

My past experience and training includes working at eating disorder treatment programs, seeing clients at community clinics, and counseling adolescents at a school for students with severe emotional disorders and learning disabilities.

Therapeutic approach & specializations

Looking at the past, building skills for the present

Due to my tenure in the entertainment business, I have unique insights into issues specific to the creative community. In addition, as a long-time resident of Los Angeles, I am familiar with the challenges and stresses of living in Southern California that can affect our relationships and our mental health.

My theoretical orientation is a combination of psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness. What that means is we do spend time looking at your past, but also focus on what's not working in the present and building the skills you need in order to start making changes and to live a more fulfilling life. I am also a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist-Consultant (CEDS-C) and EMDR certified. I offer EMDR therapy for clients with past traumas that are still affecting their ability to function in their present-day lives.
