Care shaped around what you are carrying
About Janet Goldstein-Ball
I provide a warm, caring, accepting and safe therapeutic environment where we explore whatever is causing you pain on your life's journey and together discover new ways of coping. Although I enjoy working with a variety of populations, my special interests are eating disorders, substance abuse, at-risk adolescents, and creative professionals.
Currently I am seeing individuals, couples and families at my private practice in Burbank. I have also worked the past 9 years as the Eating Disorder Case Manager at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles, where I oversaw an extended out-patient program for adults and adolescents with food and body issues. In addition, I am available for telehealth sessions with residents of California, Oregon and Washington State.
Getting StartedHow Therapy Works
Therapy is a collaboration. We begin with a short conversation, move into a full session, and build a roadmap together — looking at your past while practising the skills you need in the present.
-
1
Free 15-minute phone consultation
Call, text or email me and we talk briefly about what you are looking for and whether we are a good fit.
-
2
Your first 50-minute session
We review the Intake and Consent to Treat forms and my office policies, then discuss what brought you to therapy.
-
3
Goals and a roadmap
Together we formulate goals and create a roadmap for the course of your therapy experience.
-

Ongoing work and new ways of coping

Testimonials
Janet met me exactly where I was with my eating disorder — no judgement, no shame. For the first time food stopped running my life.
We came in barely speaking to each other. Janet helped us hear what was underneath the arguments and gave us practical ways to stay connected.
EMDR with Janet finally loosened something I had carried for years. She understands the pressure of working in the creative industry.
